BARI 2012
Designing an expansion for a historic villa, reinterpreting ancient materials with modern manufacturing techniques, reimagining spaces, and assigning new functions while respecting the client’s needs and preserving the historical characteristics, lead to a project that makes silence its primary virtue.
Everything is clear and evident!
It’s a synergy, a fusion of various materials: the properties of glass, its lightness, and transparency are transferred to marble, which transforms in its essence. Translucent walls on which irregular and three-dimensional pieces are laid, using precise fragments and remnants of pre-cut marble slabs, inlaid in modular frames, form the perimeter of the grand hall. Marble acquires an unusual relationship with its surrounding environment, integrating with amorphous materials like glass or ancient materials like the stones of the villa’s walls.
